Issue 137 Black waterline stripe

Postby Hilux5972 » Thu Jul 31, 2014 2:38 am

Hello again all.

Just wondering can anyone tell me how deep the black waterline stripe should be? The one on the magazine seems too thin to me.

Cant really help you there, I made mine 10mm high. By the way I will not use the draft marks, during wartime the where painted over so that spies from a distance could not find out easy if the ship is full with fuel and supplies ready for a sortie. I know it looks nice.

Measure 45mm from the base of the ship, and then measure 2 and half mm above and below that line, making the band 5mm.

But, if youI have a loke at this picture from Thomas Schmid: http://3dhistory.de/wordpress/3d-models/hms-hood
I think the height is 7 feet, am I right or wrong?
7 ft X 304,8 mm = 2133,6 mm/200 = 10,7 mm.
Comments please?

Just take a look at your own blog,.
In one of that films you can see where the waterline starts, just below that main armour belt.
And if you look for the right picture on hmshood.com you can see the marks on the black waterline.
There you can read approximately 7½ feet.
Which makes it:
7½ X 304.8mm = 2286mm
2286 / 200 = 11,43mm
Maby Im wrong but give me at least a chance to ecxplane and a serious comment.
