As I have found lots of metal on a roll but I suspect that it is way too thick for the scale of the zeros the guys ( and girl ) are building .

I'd guess that a scale thickness would be too flimsy to handle. I'd guess it would be 1.5mm to 2mm thick ? That's a pure guess of course, but that would make the scale thickness around 0.1mm which sounds a bit too thin to be practical on a model. (Or have I misunderstood your comment  )

0,1 is almost kitchen foil mark indeed, that would be a pain - especially if they do it from alloy,
I'm still on the wing ribs with the stuka but as soon as the first panel arrives I'll report about the thickness there...

what about the metal skin that came with the Lancaster

The control surfaces on the Zero were covered in fabric and stiffened with dope, the rest of the aircraft would have been aluminium skin. Has anyone asked on the DP forum?

Edit

I found this website of this build in Japan. If you all scroll down to near the bottom you can see that there are metal panels. I will read the DP forum and see what is being said

Some interesting disscussion points. But just to clarify on Cap'ns point. The metal I have found is Zinc, Aluminiuim etc on rolls. Not your common or garden cooking foil. Bit more substantial.

I love the panels in that link james, not perfectly smooth, just as one would imagine the real thing which was far from perfection...

Thats good to know that the skin will be aluminium.

But i dont think Im anywhere near being a Chief Assistant. I just try and help out where I can, such as the Super Glue issue on the build.

My modelling skills are no where near some of you guys.

Is there a chance of a reproduction of this photo for the guys (and lady) building this kit? So they - and me for that matter- can drool over it. If, of course, the photo is not copyrighted.

Better still, post a link to the page/post with the photo. That avoids any copyright concerns completely.
