Hi Morrigan,

I found this while surfing. It is from a Japanese site that shows the whole build (x3!)

:? the old story - the fastest gun in the west :D this is why I'm trying to get all issues before getting out the chainsaw for the more subtle modification jobs
never mind, yours is probably better detailed

I haven't fogotten Zero, a sunny day has seen the last of port wing ribs painted up.
Yippee I have a wing! :D
Only one set of wing ribs left to do, that's much better than two sets left to do.
You will see on the last few ribs I have left off the front most truss, they were so short that they just didn't look right.

Couldn't find an Oxo cube or sugar cube, will a chunk of P-51 do as a unit of measurement?

Hi Morrigan,

Looking good! An observation though. I think you have the 'L" shaped piece installed wrong on your wingtip. In looking at it, I think you may run into problems later. I have attached a pic with the aileron installed to show you where you might have issues.

Have a 'K" for surfacing though!

Yeah I'm not really happy with that little l shaped piece.
I'm waiting anxiously for some Aileron bits and the other wingtip to see if it all works out or needs some jiggery pokery.
Worst comes to worse, I'll just scratch build some bits

Both yours and Morrigans' (hi dear!) "L" shaped parts are fine. I think that you will find that when it comes to skinning this area you will have a little overlap on the wingtipskin in this area. This will be to cover up the gap between the moveable wing tip and aileron edge. We won't get any moving problems there.

Also Morrigan now has the wonderful experience of fitting the LED lights! :angry-banghead:

Oh I have plans that doesn't involve using the supplied LED's. Think very fine wire, some nano soldering and the tiniest bulbs I can find. I'm going for maximum :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:.

Good luck

I've taken a little detour before launching in to assembly another wing.
In the interest of preserving sanity1

The exhaust were airbrushed with Alclad exhaust manifold and burnt iron.

Work has also commenced on the instrument panel. I've left some of the supplied bezels off as the larger domed ones distorted the image of the instruments to much. so replacements will be made.
On checking out some photos of Zero instrument panels online, it seems Instrument 'K' is not a dial at all, its a the magneto switch
Image

The panel that attaches to the bottom of the panel is the Oxygen system panel complete with connector for the pilots oxygen hose.
It looks like I'll need to make up some decals for the placards and dial, unless this is supplied later on
Image

Work thus far, the clear parts were coated and attached with Johnsons Klear and then the bezels were also picked out with fine brush and matt black paint which has improved their appearance dramatically.
