Whilst on Holiday in the Loire valley, France last month we came across a little gem of a railway run by volunteers............Near Lake Rille', about 20Kms north of Saumur (yes we did the Tank Museum too)...............

The line runs alongside the lake and the journey takes around 45mins and costs 5 Euro each...............

As you can see there are no fences between the line and the spotter, sorry cameraman..................The gauge is 660mm and the Locomotive on the day was an Orenstein & Koppel 0-4-0 tank Engine built in 1919.................It is named "La Touraine"

The Volunteers are restoring a Roundhouse at the Railways HQ..........

One section has a walk under a tree arch with the Railway running down one side of the path, lovely............

And a good day was had by all................ At least you can use this to keep the Grand kids away from the Computer....

If you are in the area you must give it a visit...............Closed between October and March..........

Nice find ! Looks well worth travelling half way across France for, let alone 5 Euros !
Cheers
