ZM MODEL KITS - PLACE TO DISCUSS AND DROOL....

Postby chill » Wed Jul 03, 2013 1:32 pm

Hi All.

Following on from the sucessful launch of Snapdragons ZMUHU build. Ive noticed that forum members are posting excellent links to other ZM models.

So, to keep Snapdragons thread 'clean' and dedicated just to the fantastic build diary Im launching this thread for discussion on ZM kits.

Regards

Chill.

well paul, 1:32 isn't exactly the usual waistcoat pocket scale for airplanes  and they probably won't qualify as you next x-mas build entry...

I think that Morrigan already has her HE 219. I will say that as soon as you open the box the temptaion to sweep the arm across the building table and just get rid of everything is.... well pretty much irisitable and discipline has to be enforced!

I think the model tolerance budget has been nearly used by the Uhu and the dregs will be needed for the Corsair due next month. :naughty:

maybe ZM could be talked into making partworks, the box sizes would considerably drop and you could claim it's UHU the glue that is being delivered...

Big fan of ZM. Although relatively new to model aircraft kit design and production, their attention to detail is amazing. Not only that, they do listen to what modeller's say e.g. they have now dropped the system of different coloured sprues for specific applications following criticism of 'soft' detail - especially on the silver coloured sprues.

I am looking forward to the release of the Raiden soon (I hope) - having seen the test shots at Telford last year - it would keep very good company with one of the original ZM 'Shindens' I have on the shelf! If they go together as well as their Ta152.............................................

I am hoping that ZM will release their Raiden for the Telford show. If so I will order to collect at the show.

I did spend quite a while at the telford show talking to Mr ZM himself. He is a really nice man and laughed delightedly at my attempt at a traditional Japanese greeting. ZM originally used the three colour sprues so that people who didnot want to paint their models would have a metallic effect engine etc. I told Mr ZM that really it was a waste of time. Modellers who built these spend lots of time with paints and so it would be better to have a neutral grey sprue colour that doesn't affect paint shades. I took along my mustang and showed him in and he was amazed at what I had built and how I had painted it.

I now look forwards to the Raiden. But I don't get the airfix magazine and I would like to know what the other "Pre-order" kit is.

Ok.... update opn the Raiden.

For all those who have wondered what happened to SWS 05 - This is it!

I do believe that this is slated for an October Release (Telford is November)

Maybe purchasing through the website and asking to collect at Telford will get this past the grabbing (must not use REALLY naughty words) at Customs, revenue and Post Office thieving..... better stop there!!! :laughing-rolling:

The Raiden looks to be another superb offering from ZM.

for 1/48 fans they are starting to produce these kits in that scale and should have the Japanese shinden soon (maybe available at Telford). I still want to get my hands on the 1/32 one!

What comes after the Raiden? wait and see! ;)

Cutting back on the :superlglue: ?! someone round here may object to that....

II'm very tempted by the 1/48 Shinden but must resist...for a little while anyway.
