Morris' GeeBEE Z Model Racer - built with Rocketeer Movie ma

Postby Morris » Sun Jan 08, 2017 11:49 am

Hi all;

Please find my Williams Bros GeeBee 'Z' Model racing plane in 1/32 scale. I built it straight OOB and only added home made decals to replicate the cowling insignia used in the move. This model is a bit of a bear to build as it has no locater pins anywhere. Below is a [pic of the box (pardon the modified 1/6 figure, it's part of my shelf display) -

The interior build was straight forward. As the cockpit opening is very small, I just painted the stock detail.

Next up was assembly of the main units and primer painting - yes... lots of filling and sanding

The yellow, black and red was a chore and a half....used Xerox copies of the instructions for masks.....ended up hand painting the red the best I could....

Finally I made the decals for the cowling .....my printed decals are always halfway transparent so I always have to use a white back ground underneath them

You've done an excellent job on an interesting model :clap: :clap: :clap:

If any one is wondering, yes the kit is over the Maximum RRP allowed by £3.52, however I did had a change of heart over Christmas and I gave Morris special permission to enter this into the comp as a one off.
