hey guys,
will start slowly here on the new place pasting the first two posts from the previews as a beginning,
thereafter in correct build order with a few comments along the way...

got the first seven issues - DHL messed the parcel up a bit so it arrived after 5 weeks of travel from france -

I could probably get a real one for the money it'll cost to assemble:
1,99 for the first -
4,99 for the second -
9,99 for the rest of the 100  issues...

BUT, I must say the quality and detail is mucho better than with "our" db5 -
but I'll possibly still find something to "fine tune" here and there

I'll do some piccies and post later on..

thank you mark,
apart from being a really nutty aston fan I have a heart for citroens having owned two of the ducklings and more others...

here's the first two piccies, featuring the gear box along with parts of the engine -
the cylinders will be fitted from parts of future issues -

Image Image

got two finished gear boxes with all the other issues, will take them apart to fettle the gaps a bit and put together again...

more to come :D

Great looking Kit astons,
so much detail on that gear box. Pricey kit though m8, is that £9.99 or 9.99 euro per issue.

hello guys, this one has been on hold for quite a while -

a bit of news as I'm up to part 32 now - you wouldn't believe how hard it is getting the issues -
the model is issued in france and spain but virtually no parts surface on  bay there
well, except for the ones I got by now

I'll start taking piccies of the parts as delivered to inject a bit of life here, though not sure when I'll be able to start the build -
what I can say is, the parts are all individually packed - just like andrew's fiat abarth and like the db5 parts in the first few issues,
altaya is really taking care that everything you get is 100% nice and safe, and the part quality is much better than with the db5;
of course some issues are really spartan and could include more parts - but that's an issue with all partworks, selling more issues with less parts...

now, wouldn't be me if I wouldn't start with #14 and not from the beginning, but you'll know why when you read on:

Image Image
with this issue, you're getting the chassis rail part - the second shot including the db5 tyre - for your convenience and for size comparison

quite a lump of metal, authentic and lovely detail and 580 grams of weight - the reason I'm posting this now is to embarrass db5 builders  -
altaya are sending you the chassis with #14 of 100 issues thus showing one can make a logically perfect partwork with the chassis as one of the first parts to get after you got the engine and suspension + it's metal and will handle the car easily (as far as I can see from the build videos, the db5 has a plastic chassis...

next will really be #1...

next up is #1 -
the bonnet + grille

Image Image
judge for yourself, lovely detailing, especially on the grille insert, there's a built-in pair of hinges in the bonnet + a rubber lip + a catch...

#2
a wheel + tyre + hub cap + suspension arm
Image
all heavy metal (the tyre of course rubber) + plastic chromed cap

#3
main engine + gear box casings + brakes
Image
a lovely bunch of finely detailed parts, should be modding them a bit, they really deserve it...

#4
front bumper assembly + custom license plate
Image
again, consisting of several pre-painted and pre-assembled parts, all finely detailed...

#5
front seat frame + rubber bands
Image
for those familiar with the "deuche's" seats, everything is there -
a metal frame + all hooks and rubber bands that need to be assembled + the cloth inner main seat padding, a model on it's own...

:D
trouble is I'll need to repaint the model -
I've owned the rare late yellow charleston version - I've had a maroon too, but that's the more common model...
well, anyway, I needed a good excuse to mod it

will look really nice in yellow astons, not sure what you mean by Charleston version. We saw a primrose yellow e-type yesterday and it looked great

the "charleston" was a limited edition of the 2cv -
(and the altaya partworks depicts the maroon car)

first (and largest) edition was the maroon/black (I had one of these):
http://cdn1.flipacars.com/pics/Citroen/ ... ton-01.jpg

I had a yellow as my last 2cv (of 3,the second was a plain primrose yellow car),
the yellow was a smaller and later edition of the "charly" as we used to call it
http://cdn1.flipacars.com/pics/Citroen/ ... ton-02.jpg

(and for all asking, the lady wasn't a standard works feature  )

the next batch:

#6
wheel and tyre set
Image
not a miracle from outer space this time...

#7
left front suspension arm and small bits for both front suspensions
Image
mostly heavy metal, correct glossy black paint...

8#
drivers door (the continental side...)
Image
great paintwork, heavy metal piece...

#9
door internal detail parts + windows
Image
the window will be opening in 2cv style, all working...

#10
engine cylinder + head parts
Image
plastic pieces, getting the engine build a nice step further, as always, all necessary wiring provided (no modding here...)

we are only 3 issues down to the full engine parts set...

The suspension arms look really good astons. Did they give an indication of total weight when completed.
Ive never had the pleasure of driving a 2CV, I bet there great but take a bit of getting used to. Would be quiet scary at first :auto-swerve: . I have owned three VWs over the years and they were tricky to drive at first but the suspension on a 2CV is amazing unlike the VW.
Will the coils springs and cylinders be made in metal along with the bellcranks and pull rods. and are you expecting those parts sometime soon.
