baby alfa romeo duetto spider 1:8

as promised a slow start on this one as the first 10 issues are on a 2-weekly schedule, everything fixed to receive the next parts, it'll just take a bit...

as said, the booklets are approximately A5 and square, I have pictured issue #4 here to show how the instructions work:

of course with this you'll need to have at least basic italian knowledge but the pictures are almost self-explanatory...

issue #1 seat, grille +decal, wheel rim (metal)
Image
issue #2 steering wheel, wheel disc, tyre
Image
issue#3 front top bodywork
Image
issue #4 left bumperette, left indicator, bulb + wires
Image

next pictures and part in around 5 weeks of time, the parts so far look pretty nice but I cannot say anything about the fit -
what can be said is there's a instruction DVD in issue #1 so at least (contrary to some other partworks cars) we can see there was a completed car before deliveries started...

Even if it is just a prototype :laughing-rolling:

Looks really nice - Issue 3 has a nice shiney part. (It's the magpie in me :laughing-rolling: )
Cheers

Looks very nice BA :)
Do the wheel rims come in two or more parts like the DB5 and are they cast metal.
Bodywork looks nice

the rims are one piece cast metal casp, with all the necessary holes already included as well as a balance weight + the tyre valve -
all this gets me to suspect, the wheels could be held by 4 small bolts as on the original car :P
and you should see the 155 SR 15 pirelli cinturatos in real life -
need to have a look at the dvd that came with the whole lot.................

I thought I'd share a bit of the information as found on the dvd, I know the piccies aren't best quality but they show at least a bit of detail:

the engine looks simply superb, all ribs and details seem to be there:
Image
Image

a rough layout of chassis parts and part built with engine and exhaust:
Image

the assembled front suspension - and it looks like a suspension (if you know what I mean db5 owners  )
Image

lovely window mechanics and they seem to be working:
Image

nice touch: even if it's hidden underneath the rubber mat, there's the fifth wheel:
Image

hinges seem to be almost scale appearance, there are numerous panels that need to be attached to build up the bodywoork,
the roof mechanics look great and seem to be working alike, the video is building up appetite to the 100 issues... more as arriving... ;)

Looks very nice BA
The engine looks very detailed and so does the front suspension. Looks like its going to be a nice car to build :)
I think you may be right about the fixing for the wheels BA, they look great with the added tyre valve and balance weights. Would be nice to be able to take the wheels off like the real car

...as the clutch bell is partially open you can see the flywheel assembly - lovely they still made it - others may have simply ignored the fact...

I'm up to issue 27 now, 10 issues arrived yesterday at my vacation site - pictures of the missing ##'s when I'm back home again -
chassis is #25 and it's a fairly big lump of plastic - needless to say I'm at a point where I'm starting to take measure of liking/disliking the original kit colour -
baby blue was a nice alternative with the spyder... :shifty:

there'll be piccies, yes - there was also a nice light blue metallic... humhum
btw the chassis is an extremely complicated affair with a myriad of screw holes for all kinds of stuff, very interesting construction approach...

btw construction, believe it,
i've been tucking away the pages in the newly arrived folder, each in it's own section dealing with alfa romeo, the people, the cars, the instructions,
we're at issue 27 and there are already 122 pages of instructions, haven't seen this kind of meticulously described build for years...
