now gents, a very large update with the parts up to #28 (everything I fetched while on holidays in tuscany...)
first up are three that were missing from the first set of pictures:

#8 front lower body panel (massive painted metal)
Image
#9 driver side lower fender panel including indicator + wiring
Image
#10 passenger side lower fender panel including indicator + wiring
Image

#16 starter, dynamo + hardware
Image
#17 water hoses + first part of the water cooler, oil filter
Image
#18 water cooler, fan + rest of the cooling hardware
Image
#19 weber carburator assembly + intake manifolds
Image
#20 air filter and air intake + battery + hardware
Image

more lovely parts in the next post...

#21 washing baggy, electrical hardware for the engine compartment
Image
#22 complete engine compartment tray, including assembled electrics, all plastic
Image
#23 front exhaust assembly
Image
#24 rear exhaust assembly
Image
#25 tada! may we present the chassis - it's all plastic and it's a mighty part and very complicated looking
Image
#26 fuel tank hardware + hoses
Image
#27 fuel tank + front crossmember assembly
Image

that's it for now - almost all body parts will attach to the plastic chassis but we'll get all kinds of metal brackets so the big plastic lump won't bend or break -
so next up are two relatively dull issues containing a few of these brackets, thereafter two issues with front suspension pieces,
quite pleased how the parts look like and also with the desctructions: we have over 120 pages full of great pictures right now, and the binder is lovely as well, picture next time...

It looks like a superb model. I'd be sorely tempted if it was a British classic sports car.
Cheers

just about time to update this a bit with the next issues:

#28 chassis metal bracing/hardware LHD
Image
#29 chassis metal bracing/hardware RHD
Image
as some will recall, the chassis is a big plastic lump - in order to keep it straight and safe these parts are assembled to add strenght...
#30 two front springs + a pair of pliers, even these are supplied with the kit
Image
#31 RHD front suspension parts
Image
#32 LHD front suspension parts
Image
#33 front suspension bridge, a heavy metal part ready to take the load of the car...
Image
#34 rear axle outer parts
Image
#35 rear RHD trailing arm and spring
Image
#36 rear LHD trailing arm and spring
Image
#37 differential internal assembly
Image
#38 rear axle parts + main drive shaft
Image
#39 steering linkage and front axle finishing parts
Image

that's it for today, next 2 issues already stored for me, I'm getting the parcels now every dozen or so parts, depending on the weight...
so by time the next arrives here we'll be half way through the parts count, should decide what paint the car will get, it won't stay red for sure...

...haven't seen this kind of thing yet but hachette italy made us a rather unpleasant surprise with the first new issue in 2014:
the copy price has gone up from 9,99 to 10,99 - even if they had all issues from #4 to #100 marked as 9,99 in the first place -
I won't be complaining officially as it's coming from italy via a good fellow but I don't quite know if this would be legally allowed if one appealed...

which btw means they've elevated the total by 55€ (as charging one € more for each of the last 55 issues)... :snooty:

time for a small update on the alfa (should it be baby blue, or at least baby blue metallic...)

#47 internal door gap trailing and closing gap panels LHD + sill chromework
Image

#48 complete window assembly LHD door
Image

#49 internal window winder assembly including inner panel LHD
Image

#50 door skin including handle + hardware LHD
Image

#51 inner door panel including hardware LHD door
Image

#52 replicating #46 i.e. door sill, this time RHD
Image

#53 is the same as #47 just RHD,

so consider the pictures uploaded up to part #57, the RHD inner panel inlcuding hardware as I won't do it here, hachette is giving us the details of the next issues around 3 issues in advance so at the moment I don't know what is awaiting us, just to say, we have already received more than 50% of the car (precisely 55% as it's 55 issues we have so far...

we've got the engine + suspension completed, also most parts of the front bodywork including doors (with the bonnet missing yet), so the rest of the parts will deal with the interiour, the boot and the rest of the body panels... particluraly interested to see the fold-away fabric roof parts :D

btw. the bright guys around here will have noticed that a grey package means, the parts are painted (heavy) metal pieces...

hello roy, might be a bad karma - as it seems I got the only 4 parts (the first 4 numbers) off italian ebay that were ever on sale there -
if you have someone who could get you the parts from there that would be the best idea - I think I am "using" my contact to the extent that he wouldn't be willing to get another set of parts -
you might have someone frome bay who'd be willing...

next up is

#62 the spare wheel
Image

#63 boot floor rubber inlay, soft and bendable, so it can be lifted to look at the spare wheel
Image

#64 lhd side boot cover
Image

the next 15 issues should be sent to me during the week - and I sincerely hope the postman will find me here in my holiday home in tuscany,
when those are in hand there'll be only 21 more issues and the alfa is prepared for build - including the new light metallic blue paintwork...

stay tuned...

btw, while on alfa, the next hachette is in hand, the first 4 issues of the giulia super in "carabinieri" outfit...
and don't dare to say, got issue #1 of the la ferrari today while visiting rome...

hullo guys, 9 weeks to go and the little alfa is complete,
I see I need to post a big lot of parts for you to keep an eye on...

interestingly the italian hachette worked simply like a swiss watch, all issues spot on time - nothing EM can double with the nissan...
I think I started this before the gtr got a go and I suppose it won't catch up any more...

...and parts now complete and in hand - I didn't go for the surprise supplemental 5 issues -
they consist of parts to build up a showcase for the model but wasn't worth 55€ plus shipment (which would have been expensive with the wood/alloy/glass/steel pieces...)
so i need to update the pictures at last and start painting the body parts blue...
