well, putting my small toe into water with this one and starting off with the first 3 issues:

#1 bonnet with all the necessary hardware, a pretty large lump of metal no wonder citroen made this of alloy back in the 50ies...
Image
just for comparison purposes here is a picture showing the db5 bonnet with the citroen piece:
Image

#2 tyre - a lovely michelin XAS, wheel (including valve), wheel disc, fully operational half shaft including all hardware...
Image

#3 engine sump and left side engine block including induction system hardware
Image

you're gitting neatly packed parts and so far two different phillips screwdrivers + tweezers,
everything is in the right colour and each part has a dedicated peg so nothing can be mounted the wrong way around,
instructions are as per the 2CV which I've shown in the other thread, so far the logical way is also copied,
of course you've got a massive bonnet + a wheel as teaser parts so you see a bit of what the model will once look like -
which is also OK with the DS as all panels on the original could be changed without any welding etc, so any panels delivered here and there can be stored for later use -

looking forward to the next two issues which are already on the way, more soon... Image

yes indeed casp - and remember the first few issues of the db5 - they came just like this but then the manufacturer reverted to baggies -
suppose this one will be like the 2cv - that had them packed like this from the smallest item up to the large body frame -
seems they wanted it to look neatly and prevent the necessity of sending out free replacement for broken pieces... clever clever...

erm, yes, well - waiting here and a little bit shaky as the issue #10 hasn't been posted on the DS site even though it's already thursday (normal release day tuesday) -
no one knows anything even on the french fan sites/forums - I don't know either if anyone there has tried to contact customer services -
hope sincerely altaya doesn't adopt the habits of some well known Uk based partworks companies in doing an on-off start and the only downside of altaya partworks so far seems to have been you never knew what would come in the next issue as there's nothing on the homepage and also not in the magazines (unlike hachette with the stuka or alfa duetto or em with the db5 where you got the information...),

however -> optimism, captain - onto doing the piccies and drinking a cup of tea...

to push up a bit of optimism, did I tell you the main beams will svivel with the front wheels like they do on the original car??!!

#4 a big shiny piece to make the collector happy: the front bumper complete with all bits + overriders
Image

#5 alternator, water pump, distributor, engine head cover, leads, brackets, v-belt pulley parts, ventilator
Image

#6 hydraulic pump, ignition leads, ignition lead holders, oil cap, air filter, everything neatly painted and labelled
Image

#7 hoses, inlet manifold, v-belt, electric leads
Image

#8 engine block half, timing belt housing, v-belt pulley parts, brackets, oil pump parts, exhaust manifold parts
Image

#9 more v-belt pulleys, v-belts, gear box cover, disc brakes, half shafts
Image

let's hope the rumours I've heard about preparations for part #10 are correct,
oh boy I'm so curious what they'll be - more news when available ;)

It would be extremely unusual to cancel a series after 9 issues. It could cost them a fortune in refunds.
Cheers

indeed - there's no note or comment of any kind on the altaya homepage (not unusual for partworks companies though),
the comment on a french foorum about issues #8+#9+#10 being in preparation is also rather interesting as 8 and 9 are already here...

I'll see on tuesday as that's the issue day in france - as everything is made in china maybe there's an issue with the shipment etc...

haha, that one was good andrew :laughing-rolling: no, not yet, just looking into it, #10 is on the way to me -
as I still need some 2cv parts shipment fees are distributed, otherwise it'd be a bit pricey having sent each part separately, although I'll do it once just to see how much it is...

and what about you casp??!

and yes, it's verified, from now on it's weekly so they were just slowly creeping in for the first 10 issues...
I love the fun on the french forum, the guys say "only 100 issues to go now" :D

I see part 11 is out now. I dont want to start buiding until I have parts 4+5, and they are not available on journeaux.fr. Any idea of a source for them? I might have to subscribe to the Alfa from italy now.........

ooohhhh, andrew, alfa - should soon get the missing pieces to arrive at #15 -
back to the goddess - have been looking around for you, don't know, maybe they'll get a new batch of parts as they did with the 2cv parts -
did you see #10 is gone from the page?! yes, i have reserved a #11 and will be waiting for #12 next week before I close the order,
hope the shopping basket is reserving a part once you've thrown it in, even if an order/payment hasn't been made :shifty:

btw someone out there has estimated the parts count to 1100 according to what we received so far + some horrendous amount of screws...

:laughing-rolling: the shopping basket andrew - me either btw until now,
just this time I happened to think i'll wait 'till next week to get #12 with this delivery so I fired some parts into the shopping basket and hope that will turn them as unavailable for others -
I might learn by next tuesday that this is not so when i try to make the final order/payment and #11 is not on the order list (like #10 disappeared now from the site within 1 week of availability...
