Paul's DeAgostini 1/7th 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S Mk1

Postby Paul » Thu Apr 03, 2014 6:50 pm

Hi All,

Well I've subscribed to the DeAgostini 1/7th scale 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S Mk1, even though I am personally unsure whether it will go the distance......

I've received issues 1 and 2 today and just had a very quick look.......

The quality & finish of certain parts are very poor in my opinion, so I will be phoning their customer service tomorrow.

I'll post more information on all this over the weekend and hopefully be able to take some photos that will illustrate what I'm referring to.

Hi BA,

If even I notice that some of the quality and finishes is very poor, then it must be!!!!!

Unfortunately with DE-AG, I can't e-mail them pics of the offending parts.

So I will have the joys of trying to explain tomorrow to a foreign call centre adviser, who probably wouldn't know what the parts are I'm referring to as well !

Looks like I'm really in for some fun tomorrow afternoon !!!!!!

whilst the chrome on the head lights is rather disappointing, the graphics on the head lights is a really nice touch :)

Another thing that is really wracking me off is that they don't say what screws to use......

Although I've got loads of pics etc to upload over the weekend, the current one that is really doing my nuts in is:

"keeping the badge in pressed into place, take a screw with the wide flange on the head".......etc.

Ergh, the screws do have part numbers and none of the above (from the description) are included in either issue 1 or 2 - these instructions are a total Joke!!!!!!

Are DeAgostini taking the real "P" with this ...........??????!!!!!!!!!!!!

NB,

With the above, I did find a spare screw from the Lambo to fit !

Paul,

Totally agree with your comments - I received pts 2 and 3 yesterday - scratched chrome on the hub cap is not on, really... rust, well that would be acceptable. ;)

Paul, I hope you're right about the prototype parts - was this the case on the DB5 test? Mind you, some of the the finishes on the proper run weren't great...

Allan, don't worry - they probably won't charge you for the issues, and you can then cancel your DD. It's only a test run of 5 mags. If you look on your invoice it will say amount to be debited = £0.00 on whatever date. :D

It's a reward for signing up to be a marketing guinea pig. I received parts 1-3 of the 2007 McLaren MP4/22, before they eventually released the 2008 MP4/23 - and I have to say, conversely, that the red finish on the front wing was much better than the rather controversial one supplied on the final release.

dbp the parts in the pre-release subscription on the 007 were on par except the tyre which hasn't had any sidewall detailing whatsoever (not saying that the final version would knock me off my feet)...

so here I am again sounding quite familiar: ANYONE HOME?? please I'd need the headlight size...

thanks paul, at least the kit seems to contain 4 wheel studs/nuts - a lovely feature one must do on his own with most kits...
