Experten's Eaglemoss Mercedes 300SL

Postby Experten » Fri Nov 04, 2016 3:15 pm

Hi Guys, and Gals,

Since there were a few requests to see more of my Mercedes, I opened this topic. So, here you go!

You'll notice that my fat fingers knocked off the turn indicator lever later in the photo series. ^%&^$^%#$@#$%^%^*(*&!!!!!!

A board member has been sending me the issues as they appear, but I got anxious, and went shopping in Ebay Germany to get ahead. Still to come are the issues containing the floor pan, and I'm not really sure what else! I have 6 issues to complete it. There was a builder in Germany that had the completed step by step build posted, but he deleted all his pics...??

I also am building this model subscription--my question is- does all the silver paint match? The hood was one of the first pieces released, so there's a lot of time passing between the next painted parts, which means a lot of opportunity to get the paint match wrong.

Also, the dashboard gauges do not light up?????

haven't heard any such complaints from my german friends where the model is almost completed by now -
it seems, this colour is more easily matched than the silver birch on the 007 aston db5...

Eagle, my old buddy! No issues with paint match at all.

Thanks for the reassurance Experten; I 'll sleep better now LOL. Is the trunk lid '300SL' a foil decal it seems? I would have liked to have photoetch or cast chromed emblems there...........

It is a foil. I wonder if Tremonia might consider doing one...

a guy in germany did a few etchings - if you like I could ask him if they'd be available twice to travel across the sea...

Lovely model baby astons. I was going to go for this but couldn't afford another part build! Lovely detailing. Was it easy to build?

Baby Astons: Do you have a link to pictures of the photoetch parts? Even PE parts won't have the proper depth; it really needs to be cast in plastic or maybe 3D and chromed, the nose emblem should be too--but PE would be better than just a foil decal-please inquire, thanks for offering.

Anyone else actively building this subscription? recently the main body section arrived; the paint color match is quite good but there's particle specks in the paint, where the body mold seams were smoothed the body is uneven/wavy-and a fair amount of orange peel too, I'd like to know if this is how others found it too???
