Revell BMW Isetta 250 1/16 scale

This Kit was purchased by my adorable wife Lorraine (Blonde) who has always wanted to drive. She wrote off a Car (borrowed to us by a RAF Tornado Pilot who was staying in the Valley Hotel Anglesey to promote the new plane) ....we had only been together a week, she told me she could drive so I let her have a go :angry-banghead: needless to say she put the metal to the floor in first gear and drove it up the hedge and into a field full of sheep :laughing-rolling:
Anyway...sorry to rabbit on :auto-layrubber: :animals-sheep: :animals-sheep: :animals-sheep:

I love this little kit and Car, these things are fetching big bucks these days  :o
Not settled on colour yet, so many different paint designs  but I think I will be doing a two colour car.
Anyway to get started here are a few pics of the kit :)
Box art is superb (anyone know who did the art for Revell)

Sprue pics
parts look nice and crisp. Not much of an engine in this but you won't see most of it. Also the chassis is moulded with the floor so some masking to do or hand brushing.

Looks a nice kit. More popcorn for me too please (butter flavour!)

Are you going to add the white wall decals to the tyres? It sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. I'm not convinced decals will stick to rubber long term.
Cheers

Was just looking at the decal sheet and thinking about the white-wall decals  Not sure yet whether to use them yet.
I am toying on the Idea of an off white for the top half and wheels so a white wall probably wouldn't look right.

Steering wheel is held in place with a simple sliding ball joint that attaches to the door.

I can't lay down any paint at the moment until I get a new compressor so I will spend some time cleaning up the parts and doing some dry fitting to get a feel for the kit. Its a little bigger than I thought it would be and the parts are nice, some work needed on the main body over the wheel arches but not too bad really. The door has a small twist in it but with the interior panel attached it straightens it out. The engine is small and basic but you could improve on it.

Thanks steve :)
I did the top half of the car body and door in Off white before my compressor died and masked up ready for the lower colour. The engine had a coat of dull aluminium and black and the suitcase and car rack were hand painted and a small leather strap added. The rack was coated in Molotow liquid chrome, this stuff is amazing. didn't get a super smooth finish on the rack but it looks ok. will give the case a wash of diluted tamiya smoke later to weather it up a little.
