I had to redo the springs round a q-tip, the ones I did on the cocktail sticks were to tight.
dry fit, will fit them later in the build

Bit more done.
The exhaust pipe is all chrome in the kit and isn't that bad to be fair but it should be just the cover, the rest is a matt black so I used a small amount of oven cleaner on an old brush and just worked the areas to lift the chrome then washed the part thoroughly and when dry then Black was added. The brass 1.6mm tube was cut to size and one end chamfered. The pipe on the kit part was sanded and shortened to fit inside the brass tube to hold it in place, this will be painted matt black. The spark plug looked a tad oversize so it was tweaked a little, still better than no plug at all :D
The light clusters had a second coat of Tamiya clear Red and look much better.

The Tank and side cover were painted in Off White and a mask cut for both sides then a top coat of Vallejo Concrete of all colours :) I wanted something a little different.
The low tac mask worked ok but the edges aren't as sharp as I would have liked but this things very small for 1/12 so I'm happy, the only part I wasn't happy with was the clear coat and I used the MIG Ammo gloss and again its very different to what I'm used to using and sprays differently  unless its just me  :shifty: will see how it looks after a polish.

Nice progress Casper. A big plug defo looks better than no plug, but it looks ok to me. The rear shocks are a great improvement too.
Cheers

Thanks Mark
I sanded the tank with 6000 micro mesh and got it the best I could without taking paint off then used Klear instead, looks a bit better now.
The rear chrome rack goes together in three parts and then the rear lights and numberplate glue to it  it doesn't look that strong to me. Next bit is to attach all the cables and its not easy holding the bike with one hand and working with the other but I think I have an idea on how to hold it.
The headlight is all chrome so I'm not sure what to do with that yet, I will check my spares for a clear plastic one  The side panel has an off white centre and the Monkey decal is white :laughing-rolling: so no point in using that one :) And the Molotow chrome on the forks was done days ago and still took my thumb print so will touch those up, gives a great Finnish but takes an age to dry fully but its very handy for doing bolt heads.

The extra scratch build and added parts - de-chromed and re finished parts - etc. Really set this apart - enjoying this :)

Thanks guys :)
A little more done today.
The rear chrome rack is very delicate and supports the rear lights and numberplate, it took me ages to get it right and after four attempts I nearly gave up :angry-banghead:
front mudguard and front indicators fitted but still  about what to do with the headlight glass, looks odd in chrome.
Almost done now :)

Looking good Casper!
The chrome headlight glass does look odd. It would be a lot of effort and expense, but could you cast a new one in clear resin. You can get blue heat mouldable plastic to make the mould, and you can get clear resin. Not sure it’s worth the expense though.
Cheers

all done.
I used the chrome headlight in the end and it looks ok for this little chap :D I must have dropped this thing about ten times  so I'm surprised it turned like it did
Great fun for a small dated kit and cheap to build. paint on the engine needs touching up after picking it up so many times.
thanks for watching guys :)

Thanks guys for your kind comments :)
I'm pleased with how she came out apart from the mask I did for the tank, wasn't as sharp as i would have liked but to the naked eye you can hardly see it and it broke up the concrete colour a bit.
Will make a start on the 125 soon and show the difference in size and quality between the two Monkey kits but first I need to progress with my BOTY Yamaha, lots to finish.I need to start the main colour (blue) and CF decals, these will take me some time and patience but I will plod on and see how we go with that one.
thanks again for reading my diary guys, glad you liked it. :animals-chimp:
