1/6th tiger tank

Postby Andrewyzfr6 » Wed Feb 01, 2012 2:57 pm

I have taken a liking for the tiger tank. With my dad reminding me that I was fascinated with a trip to bovington in the 80's, I am thinking about purchasing a 1/6 r/c tiger. There appear to be 2 on the market. Armortek and Mark-1. Does anyone know anything about either, and what's good/ bad about them?

I don't know to be honest. It might be worth talking to the UK Tank Club for some advice. http://www.uktank.org/default.htm
I guess that there may be other clubs out there, but I know this one as they exhibit at the London Model Eng Show.

I do believe that the Mark 1 tank is built for you and is a composite material build, where as the Armourtek tank is a proper all metal tank that you build up yourself.

I have seen the armourtek tanks up close and personal and they are far better than the Mark 1 tanks for build quality and value for money. They come with a range of enhancements that include a blank firing gun, engine sounds and smoke from the exhaust.

Here is the page for the Tiger currently available

and the UK pricings

I've had that number for 13 years and it was only last year someone made that connection.
007 on the tank was one that Michael Wittmann commanded, he was known as the black baron. It's a bit annoying that everyone makes the JB association (I'm a big JB fan!) but hey-ho that's life!

Looks good does that

Out of the two firms, Armourteck is the most expensive but by far the better product. Theirs is totally a metal product and it comes in a huge crate - or crates for you to build up. When moving it acts like a proper tank because of the weight of the thing. I saw one in action at the Pickering War Weekend a couple of years back and I will admit that if I had got the money I would have ordered one there and then.

Fore those with the money Armourtecks open weekends are well worth the trip as you can see their products up close and personal and get a go with one too. Lots of their existing customers turn up with their tanks and it is a fantastic day. They have an area that is a proving ground for their products and just watching these steel beasts (yup! That's why they cost so much) go through their paces is impressive.

For those who want to see Armourtek's King Tiger in action here you go

I thinkl the next production run for the KTII is 2013. Start working on SWMBO
