Hms Suprise

Postby Eric » Sun Jul 24, 2011 6:23 pm

This looks very nice, I would love to have a model of a frigate, and I loved both the book and the movie.

Anybody getting it?

No, I've just seen it advertised on tv several times, maybe it's just a test release?

It does look good.

A friend of mine is building it. It's BIG!!! He bought the Artesania kit as these are the only kits generally available here in SA.
Up until last year, the quality of Artesania kits was excellent, but since the manufacturing went to China, the quality of the kits has suffered, especially the planking.

It is a bit bigger than MANTUA/PANART's 1:78 scale Victory.

http://www.model-space.co.uk/ships/our- ... -surprise/

It is approximately 900mm from the stern gallery to the bow, excluding the bowsprit which, when added takes the model to 1334mm (52.8") long with a height of 950mm (37.5") and a beam of 480mm (18.5").

Here is one of the build diaries on the Model-space forum,
