a real surprise but upon looking properly it might well be a test, however,
just have a look at this lovely seventies yellow beasty

http://www.opel-manta-modell.de/

you can get it for 11,99€ and there are 100 weekly mags - you can get the extra-sub for 12,99€ which will buy you a wood base + perspex top (not a bargain at 100€)...
all the above only if you're from germany, trying to do a subscription form abroad will get you to nowhere...

Wow. I would love to get one of these I had four of the real cars at one time. Orange ' brown ,blue, and a green one
All were L reg. the orange was my favorite one as it was my first one and the best one. Reg EPO 484L. Think its somewhere in scotland now as i typed in the number plate on google a few years ago. I would build this model to look like it

It's definitely a test. The magazine wholesalers even have the title with a little "(TEST)" in their databases this time around. This is new and I hope something that will continue.

So yeah, weird choice. I do believe there's little overlap between former German Manta drivers and model builders/people that would be able to afford a partwork. They were a very.... special.... clientele around here.

Also, Eaglemoss.... :naughty:

would have surprised me if for a change the german market would have received something "out of the blue" -
they are not nearly as crazy about partworks as the french or italians - there you get untested models on a regular base -
as a test, the manta may just as well fail in it's homecountry as did the vw 1303 convertible and the vw bully...

I COULD be tempted as back then I used to have the family friendly ascona i2000 (was it vauxhall cavalier mk1? - at least the bodywork),
and all the sporty stuff one could get back then including wolfrace rims, sport interior and if I recall right immense (for those days) 185 wide tyres -
she was more powerful than the manta and equally mean looking with black bonnet and back side and black stripes on the flanks...

It looks vaguely interesting but I personally can't see it lasting.
Far too obscure and as a few have already said, a very limited interest car.
Owners/previous owners may well love it, but when you're shelling out potentially £600-£800 on a partwork, the vast majority would want something far more exotic or well known.

Not one for me.

Roy.

i like! but would prefer a manta b, or ascona 400 etc. From a marketing point of view im surprised that a mk1/2 escort rs/mexico etc hasnt been done.

Or a Lotus Cortina !

I'd have thought and MGB would have been popular too

well, we can probably rest quite relaxed - only one out of four german iconic cars ever tested in germany made it - the 300SL...
the vw bug went on sale in france, the bully went quiet and now the manta...

Hello,

This old test is now a reality in Germany

A friend of mine living near Strasbourg sent me the issue 1 :

I will not do it as it's not easy to get one and I have already too many models to built

But the quality is quite good
