HO Railway Layout

Postby GrantJ » Mon May 10, 2010 8:06 am

I have been building this layout in the hobby shop where I work for the last year or so. The main reason for it taking so long is that I had to fit the time in between serving customers and the other banalaties of work! Most of the buildings are from Faller and rather than try and portray a particular area or scene I tried to include all sections of life in it like Farming, mining, industry and private sector.

Thanks Mike :)

Being in the hobby trade one has to be a jack of all trades - have built a few layouts over the years for people but never one for myself (not to mention dont have the space or the finances for that at home as well!) The nice thing about building one at work is that its the same as building one for myself just cheaper :D I get all the joy of making it and still get paid for doing it.

Had a look at your layout and its absolutely amazing and wow do you have acollection of locos - my guess mainly Hornby?

Here is apic of a layout I did for a customer last year

That's a superb layout you've done Grant, both the shop's and the customers. I've never really been into railways myself, but I admire ones other people have done.
Cheers

Doe's your shop stock this.
Iv'e got over 200 loco's now though it's taken many years to collect, got to have your toy's haven't you, I count myself lucky I have a understanding wife,
though she doe's moan sometimes.

At least our toys keep us at home :D

We have a local agent here for Hornby and Bachmann(only American though) and we import our own Fleischmann and Faller. Unfortunately there is a very small percentage of the population that is interested in Model Railways.

Still trying to work out all the ins and outs and do and donts of DCC though. When it works its great!

Wow, I just found this topic with these layouts...
Maybe there should be a link from the "Railway"-part of the forum to find it?

Very nice layouts, btw :)
