Aussie "Pig" F-111 C

Postby RedRoo » Fri Jan 17, 2014 11:12 pm

This is the Hobby Boss 1/48 F-111 C Australian "PIG", without any aftermarket bits, just my bits of stretched spru and a scratch built engine trolley.

The kit comes with engines for the model, I chose to superdetail the engine using reference material we obtained when we filmed the "Boneyard Wrangler" in extreme close up.

The static electricity discharge ribbons were pieces of fishing line with dobs of yellow paint on the tips. I did them this way as I got sick and tired of replacing them after people would want to know "What's this for mate ?"

Plastistrut rod was used to replicate the extensive amount of tubing on the engine as well as a lot of my own stretched spru for the finer lines.

Nice looking F-111 C and engine trolley. You ever see one doing a dump and burn, quite something at night. You can just about read by it.

The first 'dump and burn' ever done in Brisbane was back in 86 and it was reported that there were dozens of car accidents and people even thought we were being invaded by martians, :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: and it became part of a festival here in Brisbane called "River Fire", the D&B done in conjunction with fireworks, quite spectacular to say the least and now, sadly, the F-111"s are buried in a dump somewhere in Qld since they scrapped them, Ho Hum :(

Here's a Youtube clip of an F111 doing a D&B. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3O7Zj0kmb0

Love the detailing on the engine. Looks amazing.
Cheers
