I thought it would be appropriate to include my shapeways figures on this thread. The following pics and text has been copied and pasted from my diary build, the C3PO and R2 were made and posted on my diary thread 3 years ago.
Just been building my C3PO and R2 D2 from shapeways designed by tengel
http://www.shapeways.com/designer/tengelC3PO was tricky to put together, the arms and legs connecting rod didn't fit, so I cut and sanded these flat before I glued. C3PO elbows sat tightly against his waist which is not how he holds his arms, so I modify the joints and re-positions the arms to have his elbows sticking out. I think he will look a lot better once painted. I still think that he is a tad too big for the scale.
The R2 D2 was the one on a sprue which I modify to have only the two legs. I had to cut the feet off and sand the joint so that his feet allowed him to stand upright as oppose to having the legs at an angle. The upper leg joints I sanded flat to also allow his legs to sit upright.
I also sanded off the light at the front of the bunk bed to accommodate the light that has been attached to the new shapeways seating designed by Tony RR
http://www.shapeways.com/shops/308bits? ... +DeAgo&s=0 . In removing the light, I also remove the paint and this will be repainted.
The R2 D2 which is painted is the other one from shapeways designed by Tony RR, I've left him with three feet and I now have the options which R2 unit I wish to use. He is still waiting for a final coat of gloss varnish.

Gluing the figures together were trickier and took longer than I imagined. These took me a couple of days to make up to my satisfaction. Such tiny and delicate parts, and the plastic wasn't responding to the super glue well. The shapeways figure kit were design so that you can pose them. But they didn't look natural. When positioning them into the seated position, they were very wide legs as well as their arms were wide apart. So I had to modify them to for better poses as well as using filler in the gaps

You may notice that I removed the lower legs of Chewbacca so that I can fit him into his seat without removing any of the cockpit parts. You won't see the lower limbs anyway as they are hidden below the cockpit console.
Ben Kenobi waist area was all built up using filler.
There weren't much room for stormtroopers limbs to be posed and they looked like robots, I wasn't happy with the poses. I wanted a more authentic looking pose, so I broke the arms off and re-position them. These were very fiddly to re-glue and I used filler to fill in the gaps in the joints.
Much better
