After working on the Bentley wheels I really wanted to have a go at this kit. Its an old kit and needs some work before you start any assembly as the parts are covered in panel lines, even after cleaning the parts sometimes a panel line is still visible :o I will start with the kit box with some nice artwork, cant make out the artist signature.

The plastic on this kit is brittle and hard so it didn't take long for something to snap

I drilled out the cylinder head bolts and used a small 2mm end mill bit (flat end) to clean them out then fitted some 12BA bolts cut short

The centre fork support was very loose in the frame so I cut it off and added a 2mm threaded rod with a 1.6mm threaded end about 8mm long to fit through the handlebar. this will fit inside a steel tube 2mm ID and finished off with a 1.6mm nut.

I love watching other people make old kits!! Although I think this is a current re-release of a very old tooling?

Popcorn ordered!!
Cheers

Didn't know it was a reissue Mark. I have been working on this for a couple of weeks so it gives me something to post while busy.

It's originally a 1974 Esci tooling according to Scalemates.

I knew it was a re-release, but didn't realise it was that old!

The box style on my kit makes it look older than it is. wow 1974, didn't know it was that old :o
This is my first Italeri kit and the plastic feels a lot older than you would think with it being the last issue.

Before adding the threaded rod I ran a 2mm tap through the fork to help hold it in place and add a little more strength

The two plastic pins arrowed are supposed to hold the two forks in tandem so they can move when the forks are pushed down and one broke off. The whole assembly is very weak so I cut them off and drilled them out for some nuts and bolts.

Dry fit to test
you can see the seam line down the fork, they are all over the parts

Thanks Morris :) Its my first 1/9 scale bike and I like the size of it, I find its easier to work with than a Tamiya 1/12 Race bike but the plastic is awful, Its soft when you cut it but can snap easy. I'm going to pick up the Italeri Triumph 3HW next time I go to Hobby craft, its around £30.
